Comedians Jarrod Harris & Ryan Singer: The Organic Tour — Myrtle Beach
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 9:00 PM to 11:30 PM (PST)
Myrtle Beach, SC
Comedy Arts Live is proud to present a special comedy event at Kono Lounge in Myrtle Beach on Wed., Jan. 23: The Organic Tour featuring two of the best young comedians in the nation today: Ryan Singer and Jarrod Harris. This tour is being filmed for a documentary that will examine life on the road for these two comics as they tour the nation in Jarrod Harris’ RV. The show will start at 9 p.m. in Kono Lounge, which is located inside Kono Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar (1901 North Kings Highway).
Over the past few years, vibrant organic comedy scenes have sprung up all around the country and have been the life support system for comedians like Jarrod Harris and Ryan Singer who have one foot in the mainstream rooms and the other firmly planted in the alternative scene. These scenes are all uniquely driven by the love of stand up comedy by the comedians who live there. This tour will showcase the freedom of the art form these venues allow and the people who have created a place for comedians to come into their own before breaking through to the next level like Jarrod Harris and Ryan Singer. This will be funny, weird, experimental, and most of all – organic.
Ryan Singer was recently mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine by Marc Maron as a comedian “Who Should Be Big” and his debut album was recently selected by Punchline Magazine as one of the Top 10 Comedy CD’s of 2010. He was one of 4 finalist in CMT’s Next Big Comic Contest, been heard on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio, has appeared on the nationally syndicated radio show Bob & Tom, and was a regional finalist in Comedy Central’s Open Mic Fight. He was the winner of the Golden Shingle Award at the Rooftop Comedy Festival, an award given to the next rising star in comedy.
The premeditated chaos of Singer’s comedy can now be heard on his debut album, HOW TO GET HIGH WITHOUT DRUGS, an intense exercise in wordplay, improvisation, and storytelling recorded at Go Bananas Comedy Club in Cincinnati, OH. Those who enter Singer’s world will be rewarded with knowledge of the connections between dimwitted hunters and Tyra Banks, cookies and racial tension, and even gay marriage and dragons, courtesy of a comedian who expertly connects insanity and brilliance.
Jarrod Harris has been seen on TBS’ Lopez Tonight and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. Campus Activities Magazine named him as one of the Hot Comics of 2009 and Top Comics to Watch in 2010. In 2009 Jarrod was final 4 at the San Francisco Comedy Competition and in 2010 was invited back for Detroit Comedy Festival’s “Best of Fest” as well as host of 2010/2011 Laughing Skull Festival. Jarrod spends his time in LA and is a regular performer at independent shows as well as the Improvs, Comedy Store, Laugh Factory, and in 2010 had the pleasure of hosting a Comedy Death Ray show.
Over 20 million people have seen Jarrod Harris’ characters on the popular web series “Action Figure Therapy,” in which ‘80s-era action figures (like Jungle Recon and Angry Ranger) answer questions and vent their issues in therapy sessions. Recently the series was named LA Weekly’s “Top Comic To Watch in 2012.” Jarrod’s character Jungle was also featured on the front page of the Huffington Post Comedy section in 2011.
“Jarrod Harris’ act is an oddly comfortable mix of trailer-park filth, comic angst, and hipster irony. While his style may fit into several categories along the comedy spectrum, his clever writing only fits into one: funny.” – Noah Gardenswartz – Creative Loafing
“Ryan Singer is one of my favorite comics to watch. He is bizarrely creative and hilarious. The real deal.” – Marc Maron
